What's in My Diaper Bag: For the Birth

I recently packed the baby's diaper bag for the birth. I wanted to pack way too much stuff and had to down size a few times but I think that I'm officially done. This blog post is for anyone who is curious on what a veteran mom takes for a baby to the birth or anyone who isn't sure what to put in their baby's 'hospital' bag. I know that every mom has different preferences but this is what I've learned is necessity for us after having had three babies. These are the things that were used, needed, and not just a waste of space.

Baby Lane's Birth Bag:
- Neutral outfits/sleepers (I ended up packing 6 because I had 3 day hospital stays with all of my children and although I plan to birth outside of a hospital this time, I still want to be prepared for any extended stays or surprises.)
- Hair bows to match the neutral outfits (in case the baby is a girl)
- White socks
- White mittens
- Pink sleeper
- Pink hospital hat with baby girl name on it
- Blue sleeper
- Blue hospital hat with baby boy name on it
- Rainbow outfit with personalized bibs for both sexes (the big siblings have shirts to match this outfit)
- Mint and grey coming home outfit with personalized bibs for both sexes
- Neutral burp rags
- Girly muslin swaddle blanket
- Neutral muslin swaddle blanket
- Travel sized baby lotion, soap, diaper cream, nail clippers, ect
- Baby medicine such as Tylenol, gas drops, gripe water, ect
- Baby wipes and neutral cloth diapers (Hospitals provide diapers and wipes but we are birthing at a birth center and using cloth diapers so our situation is different than most. I do plan to bring some disposable diapers just in case the baby is too small for newborn cloth diapers though. I'll also bring more cloth than what is pictured. I was in the process of washing most of the newborn diapers that we have when I packed.)
- A wet bag for dirty cloth diapers (Mine were also in the wash so they aren't pictured)

*For those of you who know your baby's gender the list would still stay similar. You'd just pack all gender specific items.
Note that I didn't pack pacifiers because I'm not planning to introduce one until we've established a solid nursing routine. If you'd like to give your baby a pacifier the hospital does provide some but you may want to pack your own as well.

This is what I packed of the things that I had which would be plenty in itself but my mom is also bringing things to the birth. As most of you know, she has been purchasing gender specific stuff for me. I've been sending her the links to everything that I want for each gender and she gets the right stuff. (She's the only person besides the ultrasound tech who knows the baby's sex.) All in all I'll have a ton of stuff there but most of it won't be used right away. A lot of it is things that my mom got us for the baby's first month of life and for newborn pictures. She is planning to go to our house after the baby is born to put away what I don't want to keep at the birth center. She's also going to paint the nursery and set up the bedding before we get back home.

These are some of the items that she's bringing to the birth (most were purchased from etsy):
- Swaddle blanket with the baby's name on it and the matching bow/hat
- Newborn bows (if it's a girl)
- Newborn hats (if it's a boy)
- Gender specific gowns with matching bows/hats
- Gender specific receiving blankets
- Gender specific nursing pillow
- Boy car seat cover (I bought myself a floral nursing cover that I just loved the pattern of. It's also a car seat cover and a cart cover so I'll be using it for the car seat if I have a girl. I wanted a boyish one for the car seat if I have a boy though.)

She's also ordered newborn props, a custom blanket for monthly pictures, baby bedding, and a lot of personalized stuff such as blankets, onesies, hats, ect. I'm so glad that she knows the sex and can hook us up this way without ruining the surprise. I will definitely be doing it this way again if/when we have baby #5.

Soon I'm going to pack Brian and I's birth bags as well as the kids over night bags. I'll do another post about what's in those bags once I'm done. My plan is to have Brian install the car seat and put all of our bags in to the car around the first week of June.

My 27th Birthday

Turning 27 has been the first time that I kind of dreaded a birthday. Twenty-seven seems awfully close to 30 and that makes me a little uncomfortable ha. But I must say that this birthday has been one of my favorites. I was woken up yesterday by my babies and husband singing 'Happy Birthday' to me. I spent the day in Tulsa with my mom and grandma. I met my new niece, ate Red Lobster, went baby shopping, and got a 4D ultrasound of our Rainbow Baby. I ended the day making crafts and eating cake with my kiddos. Then this morning Brian surprises me by telling me to be ready to go out at 5 pm tonight. He got with my parents and grandparents and set up a dinner date with all of them for my birthday. How sweet is that? I'm so blessed.
I received endless messages, calls, and comments wishing me a happy birthday. It was all in all a perfect day full of love. I am so grateful for the family and friends that I have.

Our Baby Girls Graduated Pre-K

Last night Charlee & Andlee had their pre-kindergarten graduation. I bawled when I saw the flyer for it weeks ago. Bawled again when I saw the class shirts. Then bawled again through the whole program. I can not believe that the school year is over in a few days and that my babies are getting so big. They are so different yet so perfect. It has been a true joy to watch them grow and learn this year. To hear about new friends and new songs. To see their creativity in their work. To witness where they thrive and where they aren't interested. I feel like I have an even better idea of who they are now and of what they will be like as the age. I am so blessed to have such amazing, smart, funny, independent, and beautiful little girls. They make Brian and I very proud.

Their graduation was adorable and it was a precious reminder just how loved they are when I looked around to see 6 of their grandparents there to support them. I adore our family.

30 Days of Me: Days 13, 14, & 15

30 Days of Me: Day 13

A letter to someone who has hurt you recently!

Eh this one is tough for me. It's personal and not something that I'd want that person (or anyone else) to see. I'm the type of girl who hates being hurt so I don't like to confront those situations. I put them in the back of my mind and move on. So with that being said, I will not be doing today's 30 days of me.

30 Days of Me: Day 14

A picture of your family!

My family is large. Between both groups of people on parents sides, my kids and Brian, and all of my in laws, I just have a lot of family so here are the best pictures that I have that include as many of them as possible.
(While searching for these images I realized that we are way over due to have pictures done on my husband's side. After the baby is born we are going to do another big family session like we did this Fall with my side of the family but this time it'll be my side and Brian's side.)

30 Days of Me: Day 15

Put your iPod on shuffle and list the first 10 songs that play!

1) All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carey
2) Red by Taylor Swift
3) Friends by Bands of Skulls
4) Royals by Pure Heroine
5) God's not dead by Newsboys
6) Die a happy man by Thomas Rhett
7) Still into you by Paramore
8) Raspberry beret by Prince

Happy 4th Birthday to Our SONshine

Four years ago today at 7:44 am I became a boy mom for the first (and maybe only) time. Brian 'Hudson' Joe Lane weighed 7 lbs 11 ozs and looked just like his daddy. It was such a happy and scary time. He was born premature and had trouble breathing on his own. My first good look at him was a picture on my moms phone. He was rushed right off after he was born and had to stay in the nursery on a nasal catula. We weren't able to go in to see him until he was more stable. It was heartbreaking but it made those moments of reunification all that more special. Hudson is such a joy in our lives and a huge light to our family. His personality is as big as Texas and he is hilarious. He's loving and sweet to his momma but he's definitely a daddy's boy when it comes to having fun. They are best buds. He's all about his sisters and doing everything with them. They are his rock. He is smart and witty which often gets him into trouble. He's your typical onry boy and it is such a gift to watch him grow.
My heart aches a little at how fast time has gone and it seems like yesterday that he was a tiny newborn. I love him so much and am sooo thankful that God picked me to be his mom. Happy birthday little man!

Pregnancy Update: Weeks 27 & 28

Both of these weeks were similar symptom wise. No weight gain (I've gained 6 lbs total but lost 16 lbs in the first few months of my pregnancy so I'm still not pre pregnancy weight. I'm hoping to not gain it all back by delivery.), continued acid reflux, threw up more than I have been, Braxton Hicks contractions daily, craving ice, and awful hip and back pain. It's hard on me to get up or to roll over in bed. My body just feels sore and stiff. Typical pregnancy for ya. I passed my glucose test with flying colors. My blood pressure has been great. Baby's heart rate was 142 bpm. It's stayed in the 140s for a few months now. My uterus measured a week ahead so baby is growing well. I got my Rhogam shot and Tdap vaccine so that's over with. My blood type is negative so with every pregnancy it's been important to get the Rhogam shot. When Rh-negative blood is exposed to Rh positive blood, the Rh negative blood responds by producing antibodies that attack and destroy the Rh positive blood cells. This can lead to problems such as fetal anemia, which in turn can cause a life-threatening condition known as  hydrops fetalis, which causes internal bleeding, heart and kidney failure, and shock. Rh immunoglobulin prevents your immune system from attacking your baby’s blood. It stops my body from attacking the baby if he or she has a positive blood type. If baby is a positive blood type after birth I will need another shot just in case we swapped blood during delivery. It also protects our next baby from being attacked by my body if that baby isn't a negative blood type. The Tdap is a whooping cough (pertussis), tetanus and diphtheria combo vaccine. All of which I feel are important to have period but especially when you're about to have a newborn. My children and close family members have all had the vaccines that are important to me if they plan to be around our baby but it also is good for them to have that protection for themselves as well so it's a win, win. *To stay on subject for this specific blog entry I will be posting a separate blog tomorrow about vaccines and welcoming a newborn.

That's about it for this update. It was a good two weeks that brought a lot of happy news. I feel like each time I have a good prenatal appointment or pass a test it's one step closer to having my dream birth. I've taken the health aspect of this one day at a time. I've relaxed and tried not to let myself worry about all of the things that can go wrong but I also have made back up plans for the other possible outcomes. From having my perfect birth to having to be sedated for a c section, I've finally got just about every situation planned for and my wishes made known by family, doctors, and the midwives.

30 Days of Me: Days 10, 11, & 12

30 Days of Me: Day 10

The music that I listen to when I'm happy, sad, mad, bored, and hyped!

I love music so much. I always have. I tend to listen to pop music from the 80s, 90s, and today the most. Those are my go to's on the average basis and when I'm happy and bored. For some reason I listen to county music the most when I'm sad. I think it's because it's generally a more emotional genre. When I'm mad I listen to rock music or Bad Blood by Taylor Swift on repeat. When I'm hyped I like to listen to pop and rap. All in all I listen to just about everything there is out there.

30 Days of Me: Day 11

A picture with my friends!

I have a lot of 'hang out buddies' that we spend time at the creek with or playing cards with, that kind of thing, but I'm just going to post about my closest friends.

My mom of course. We talk daily and she's the person that I'm the closest to.

Ashley is my childhood bestie. We've been close literally our entire lives.

Lauren is my girl soul mate ha. She is so much like me that it's not even funny. We are peas in a pod ha.

Kasha and I's husbands are close buddies so naturally we all spend a lot of time together. Our kids are also the same age which is great.

Jessy is my sister in law but she's also became a close friend. We have a lot in common so it's great.

30 Days of Me: Day 12

How I found blogger and why I made one!

I found blogger around 6 years ago. I heard about it on a YouTube channel that I follow and thought that it was the perfect way to document my pregnancy with our oldest. I wanted to keep my pregnancy journey in a spot that I would never lose and that I could sort through easily. Up until a year ago I kept those journal like entries private. I wrote about a million things pregnancy and motherhood related. I'd probably be embarrassed for anyone to see some of those posts ha. I got overly personal. I didn't ever intend to make a public blog to be honest but I kept seeing mom blog on Pinterest that were surprisingly helpful and interesting to me so I started to consider making one myself. People have made comments to me for years about creating a blog. Especially after we became foster parents. I finally broke down and went for it and I'm glad that I did. It makes me very happy to receive Facebook messages, blog comments, and personal emails from other women who found my blog helpful. From party planning tips to being open about how hard mom life can be, I'm super humbled by the ladies who reach out to me and say that I made them feel better about things or that I helped them throw a baby shower. I appreciate that sooo much.

Baby Lane Prep: Nesting While Preparing to Move

Now that I am nearing my 30th week of pregnancy, recently had a premature labor scare (a ton of contractions but no cervical change thank God), and am chin deep in picking out a lot of the final touches for the new house I find myself with a major urge to get ready for the baby to come. My mind is so scatter brained and my planner has zero space left anywhere. I don't think that I've ever felt this overwhelmed with 'to do's'. Between kids doctors appointments, several upcoming birthdays, the girls having end of school year programs and field trips, planning summer activities, weekly prenatal appointments, being close to moving, working over time to finish a lot of stuff on the house, and preparing for the baby to come, the lists seem endless. I am dying to be fully prepared for the baby and to be settled into our new home. Living in a sort of limbo is exhausting. This week I decided to go through a box of baby stuff when Brian had a few spare minutes to do the lifting for me. Just one box out of 6 and I already felt like it was way too much because of our lack in space currently. This was some of what was in that box:

The other boxes have more clothes, diapers, wipes, baby necessities, socks, bows, hats, blankets, burp cloths, ect in them. Our cabin is tiny and the storage/closet space is basically non existent. I have no clue where more stuff could go so I just got out a small amount of the newborn stuff for now. I have prepped neutrals and gender specific clothes and blankets. I bought a little clear and white plastic dresser type of thing just for the baby's stuff. (It'll go upstairs in the loft/play area once we move and have crafting/schooling items in it) I also set up the play pen in our master bedroom and I put some baby care basics such as wipes, burp rags, soap, lotion, diapers, ect in the storage area on the side of the playpen. In the next few weeks I will set up the swing in the living room, wash and stuff the newborn cloth diapers, pack the labor bags (I'll do a detailed post on that when I'm finished packing), begin to keep the house stocked up on household and newborn essentials so we don't need to worry about anything if baby comes early, and keep the car seat easily accessible so we can install it quickly if needed.

I've mentioned this before but our new house is supposed to be move in ready around the time that I'm 34 weeks pregnant. I will have to redo most of this when we move but to me the extra step of doing it at the cabin is worth it because you never know what's going to happen. All of our children were born from 34-35 weeks gestation. I've already had a contractions scare with this pregnancy and the baby would definitely have a NICU stay if he or she was born any time soon so I don't want to be worried about things being ready for us when we do get to bring baby home if that was to happen. That being said we can't guarantee 110% that the house will be done before the baby comes. It's just smartest to prepare at the cabin now knowing that we will have to do it again in a month.
Once we have the entire new house moved in to and all done I will nest there for the baby plus I will be able to prep/put up even more of the baby's stuff since we will have a ton of storage space. With us not knowing the sex we didn't purchase a lot of clothes in sizes bigger than 3 months. (We have way too many newborn things. I bet half don't get worn. You'd think that by now I'd know better.) I wanted to keep the neutrals as minimal as possible. We all know that I'm not a neutral fan ha. I only bought bigger stuff in gender specific outfits that I just couldn't live with out. I will gift them to my sister in law if I have a boy or to one of my best friends if I have a girl.
We bought gift cards every few weeks throughout the entire pregnancy so I can go on a huge online shopping spree after the baby is born without spending all of that money at once. It will have been budgeted in over the last 8-9 months. At that point when I have had the baby, know the sex, and have purchased a lot of baby clothes I'll wash them all and put them away in the nursery. I get so excited when I think about getting our new house all set up and being able to prepare it for our newest miracle. I'm one of those girls who absolutely loves nesting and loves getting things ready for a newborn. Especially the nursery. I've had so much fun designing a nursery for both sexes (I recently made a detailed blog post on what our nursery themes are). I look forward to seeing that room complete after baby is here. I'm blown away how quickly time has gone. I have truly enjoyed all that pregnancy brings. At times it's been hard on my body and hard emotionally but I really have appreciated every moment. This isn't planned to be our last baby but as I always say, you never know what the future has in store. Just because we plan to have more doesn't mean that we will get to have more. I've kept that at the front of my heart so with that in mind my heart has ached to think of this pregnancy being over, so much so that I'm worried that I'll have depression issues after the birth. Not because of hormones but because my pregnancy is over and it could of been my last. I'll be honest, I'm very nervous about how I'm going to handle that. It gives me a sense of dread. Of course I'll be thrilled to have the baby here but I don't think that he or she being here will stop me from mourning my pregnancy. The struggle is real y'all.
For now I will just stay focused on living in the moment and cherishing each step as we prepare for our newest tiny miracle. Soon our house will be finished and I'm praying that being moved in, all settled, and totally ready for baby will make the other things that are keeping us so busy seem much less stressful.

30 Days of Me: Days 8 & 9

30 Days of Me: Day 8
Short term goals for the month!
I have several goals for this month.
I want our new house finished.
I want the specialist for Andlee's thyroid and swollen lymph node issues to have ruled out any cancers or anything extreme asap.
I want to give Hudson a great birthday celebration. He begged us for a kitten so we got him Dobby, a Ragdoll kitten. But I also want his actual birthday to be perfect for him and his party.
I want the girls to have a fun pre-k graduation and last 2 weeks of school.
I want to get Andlee in special lessons for the summer to help with her dyslexia.
I want to get Andlee's birthday party stuff order so it's easier on me to throw her party the first week of July. I'll either be due any day pregnant or I'll have a newborn at that point. Either way I'll need things to go easier and smoother.
I want to finish buying what we need (& want) for the baby so that I can have it all when we move in to the new house. That way I can nest right away. (Aside from the gender specific stuff that my moms been getting for me. Newborn session props, birth announcement outfit, personalized clothes and blankets, gender specific muslins, nursery bedding, bows for a girl, hats for a boy, ect)
And I want to get our maternity pictures done before I get into that giant all over stage (I have them scheduled for May 12th so I'll be 33 weeks).

I have a million other little todo's and goals but I'll spare you those.

30 Days of Me: Day 9
Something that I'm proud of in the last few days!
I'm proud that I passed my glucose test.
I'm proud that we are finally getting some answers about Andlee's health.
I'm proud that we are ahead of schedule at this point on our house. If it continues at this pace we will for sure be in by mid May.

30 Days of Me: Days 6 & 7

30 Days of Me: Day 6

My favorite super hero!
This is easy for me, I don't have one. I'm not into the super hero thing. I did love Harley Quinn's character in Suicide Squad though. Her personality reminds me of myself. I watched that movie with my parents, Brian, and my brother. We all agreed that her vulgarity was a little too familiar ha. So does she count? 😅

30 Days of Me: Day 7

Someone who has made the biggest impact on my life!
It is legit impossible for me to just name one. I can't and I won't. I have a small tribe of people who have made me who I am today and impacted my life in the greatest of ways so I'm naming them all.
First, my parents. My parents raised me of course but they did more than just take care of me. They made me the devoted and loving person that I am. They gave me security in life and were solids that I always could count on. They never let me down. They had my back. They love me endlessly. They are why I grew up with a passion for parenthood. I have the upmost respect for them. I can't say it enough but they are the most amazing parents that anyone could ever be.
Second, my children. My kids made me a mother. They make up the core of who I am today and give me everything that my heart desired the most. They change me profoundly every single minute. They've taught me patience and made me want to be a better person for them. Without my kids I'm not me. They are my whole being. They are why my heart beats. They are all that is perfect in my life. They are the reasons that I smile in moments when I have every reason to cry. They are why God put me here and because of them I'm forever grateful.
Third, my husband. I'm not one to do the sappy husband shit. I think that's private and frankly marriage isn't always a glorified lovey dovey thing. It can be ugly. Possibly the ugliest thing that there is at times. We've had some rough moments. However, that man changed my heart. He gave me peace and showed me what it was like to be truly cherished by a partner. He stayed by my side when I wouldn't have stayed by my own side. He's cried for me and laughed for me. I am his weakness and that's something that I hold dearly. And him as a father is by far the most beautiful thing about him. I know that if anything were to happen to me, Brian wouldn't just step up but he'd slay being the only care giver for our kids. Anyone will tell you who has seen him with them that he's like Mr. Mom. He was made to be a daddy and he was made to be with me.
Fourth, my grandparents, niece/sister, and brother!
My grandparents are always there with open arms and minds to give me advice and love me as well as love my kids. I've always been close to them but I've gotten even closer as the years have passed. My grandma Linda is someone that I consider a best friend. There are few people who you know that truly care about you and wants going on in your life. She's one of those people for me. My grandpa is a realist. He's the person you go to when you need to hear it straight. He shows no mercy in telling it like it is and I have appreciation for that.
My niece and my brother are very special to me. I don't see my brother much and we've had our fair share of fights but he's someone that I don't ever want to live without. He was my first best friend and there's not a childhood memory that I have that doesn't include him.
My niece and I are more like sisters. We bicker and she drives me nuts but she was one of the greatest gifts to my family. She's been a light in the darkest of times. I look forward to having a big girl relationship with her like sisters do when she's older. I think that it will be amazing.

All of these people made me who I am in one way or another.

Pregnancy Update: Glucose Test

Yesterday I took my glucose test, got my Rhogam shot, and got my TDAP vaccine. I felt kind of shaky after I drank the sugar drink so I was paranoid that I'd fail the test but today I got my results. NO DIABETES! Yayyyyy. I did find out that I'm anemic but that's not news to me. I've had anemia issues for years and should do better about taking my supplements. Thankfully this does not risk me out of using the birth center. My blood pressure is running great and the baby is growing perfectly. All is well and I'm so thankful for that. I'm still having a lot of Braxton Hicks but that's normal. It's nothing to be concerned about at this point.
Cheers to hurdling one more thing with this pregnancy and being one step closer to my dream birth.

New House Update: Week 8

We are officially a month from move in and I'm so thrilled that things are going ahead of schedule. I said that I'd be happy to be in by my due date but always expected to be in around early June. I'm pleasantly surprised that it's looking like we will be in by mid May. They are currently texturing the walls and will be painting them this week. After the painting is done the flooring, finishing the electric, rocking the fireplace and front of the house, the stair case banister, putting in the light fixtures, installing the cabinets, and hanging the trim is what is left. The little final touches that are the best part of building a house in my opinion. I feel like at this point a new house starts to become a home because you're seeing all of it in a more complete way. My next house update will be the house all built but without any furniture or decor in it. I'll do a 'the final outcome' home tour after the baby is born so that I can show you each room totally finished. I might be giant pregnant by move in day but I'm still super pumped about decorating everything and putting away our stuff. I have nesting fever extremely bad so this move is perfect. I'm literally going to nest an entire home ha.

30 Days of Me: Day 4 & 5

30 Days of Me Day 4!

A habit that you wish that you didn't have:
This one is easy. It's biting my nails. I've been a nail biter since I could chew my mom says. I usually do it when I'm nervous and I have tried every method under the sun to break myself of it but it never works. I can grow my nails out super long then break one and end up biting the rest off because I'm OCD about things and I want my nail lengths all the same. This is the number one reason that I get my nails done once a month. When I have thick gel nails on, I don't bite them at all. I enjoy the 'mom break' that the nail salon gives me but really, the nail biting thing is the main reason why I do it. I'm actually over due for a fill right now so I'm going to go get them done today after I take my glucose test. My little reward for having to drink that nasty ass syrup ha.

30 Days of Me Day 5!

A picture of somewhere that you've been:
This was hard for me to pick just one because I have several favorites. Pensacola Beach and Disney World in Florida as well as NYC make the top of the list although I do enjoy Graceland in Tennessee where Elvis lived and The Mall of America in Minneapolis too. I decided to just do the last place that we visited, Disney World.

Following Your Mom Gut

This morning our kids had their well visits and I knew going into it that I was going to demand that something be addressed with Andlee. It's something that I've expressed concern over since Andlee was an infant but our past pediatrician always blew me off. She would tell me that because her weight is proportional with her height that I shouldn't worry but I knew that something wasn't right. Annie would nurse until she threw up. She was never satisfied or full. It wasn't just about being over weight, she was/is genuinely starving constantly. She eats the same portions and foods that her siblings eat. She's just as active as they are. Yet she's much larger. I've always just known that something was causing it but I also had faith in our doctor so I tried not to worry. We even took it upon ourselves to see a dietician and change what we feed our kids but nothing helped. After 6 years of using a pediatrician in Tulsa (an hour and a half away from us) we recently switched doctors. We loved her and her staff for the most part but I didn't feel like she was trusting my intuition on things. She would answer my questions but not actually look into them to rule anything out. Today we saw our new doctor and we absolutely loved her. She was so throughout and took all of my concerns right to heart. She Immediately ordered lab work to be done on Andlee. She also told me that Annie has extremely poor vision in one eye and that in her profession opinion is dyslexic so she referred us to a specialist. Andlee is very hard of hearing which we have known since she was a baby but the previous doctor never told us that all of these symptoms could be linked. Now we know that there's a possibility of that and testing on it is under way. We go back in 2 weeks to get the lab results and to go over what the specialist says (we see him on Wednesday). I feel so relieved to have a doctor who got all of this done in one visit after spending years trying to get something done in the past. Of course as a mom you never want anything to be 'wrong' with your child but honestly for me to know what's up will be a blessing so that we can address it the way that it needs to be addressed. I want to get her any help that she needs and I want things to finally make sense to us all.
I'm so proud of the kids. They handled the shots and appointment great which was super helpful to me because I took them by myself. Annie was such a stud. It took a few tries to get a vein when they drew her blood but she was a beast. She was intrigued by it and asked a million questions about how the needle was pulling her blood out and what they were doing. I kept trying to get her to look away and look at me but she refused ha. She wanted to watch. She's something else, that is for sure.

My lesson, if you feel like something is off with your child and your doctor doesn't take you seriously switch doctors. Don't let that feeling slide by. Follow your mom gut. I regret not switching sooner but I was scared to search for new doctors. Sadly we have learned the hard way that a lot of them aren't good doctors at all. We got so lucky to find our new doctor.
We haven't gotten Andlee's results back yet but even if I am wrong and things come back normal atleast I know the truth. Atleast I can stop worrying about it being a biological problem and go about addressing it a different way. Maybe it's physiological. I do not know but soon I will and that's wonderful.

30 Days of Me: Day 1

I recently saw this idea on Pinterest and thought that it was a neat way for my readers to learn more about me. Y'all hear about my thoughts/advice on certain things and about what's going on in Life with the Lane's but you don't usually hear much about me as a person. For the next 30 days I will be posting things about myself. Some days there will be 2 posts a day because life is busy right now so I have a lot of other things to post about but I'll keep the daily posts limited ha.

This is the template for what I'll be posting over the next 30 days so if any other fellow bloggers want to join in on their own blogs, here you go!
Shout out to Living of Love and Coffee for this great idea!

Day One: A recent picture of yourself with 15 facts about you
(Some of these you probably know if you know me in real life)

1) I am a Christian and I believe in God with every ounce of my being. I fail Him so much that it's sad and I have a lot of guilt over it. He has blessed me more than I deserve and I wish that I could repay Him for it. Sometimes I feel like I can't openly be myself and be a 'proud Christian' but shame on me for feeling that way. I'm an extremely flawed person but I don't think that my mistakes and flaws give anyone a right to question Christians as a whole. Society has put this label on us that we are supposed to be perfect people just because we are people of faith and that's absurd. None of us are perfect and we all have our bad sides. We all want to be better and strive to be. That's why having a relationship with God is so great, He forgives us and loves us even on our worst days. We as followers aren't the ones that people should be putting under a microscope, the Lord himself is who they should be seeking.

2) This one is kind of a two in one. I am a devoted family girl. My family is what I live for. They are my heart and soul. They would all tell you that I'm what brings us all together. I'm constantly throwing get togethers and birthday parties for everyone. That time with them is priceless to me. Y'all probably already know that about me so here is the 2nd part of this fact: My only fears in life are losing someone that I love or something bad happening to them. I'm not afraid of snakes, heights, bugs, ect. Literally nothing like that scares me. But I am terrified of having to live life without my family and terrified of anything bad ever happening to them. Especially my kids. I lose sleep often over random concerns regarding my kids safety. To the point that I physically get sick and throw up. It's awful.

3) I always knew that I would become a mom/wife and have a big family (it was my biggest dream in life) but I didn't plan to get married until I was in my mid 20s, let alone a week after my high school graduation. Up until 7 months prior to my wedding day I had every intention of moving to New York City for a year or two. My mom and I even went there and did some apartment shopping and job searching right before I met Brian. I still miss that I did have the experience of living there but vacations there will just have to do.

4) I absolutely love fashion, make up, and hair although I spend 90% of my time looking homeless. I grew up being the little stylist for my family. My dad had me picking out his outfits when I was like 8 years old. I look very forward to utilizing my cosmetology license and being able to dress up daily. I also look forward to having a career geared around something that I'm so passionate about. It's the perfect job for me.

5) Naming babies is one of my favorite things to do. I'm always on the look out for new ideas to share with friends or use for myself. I have came up with the names of atleast 10 of my friends babies. My thing is combining special names/using special names to a couple to make a unique name or do it in a unique way. Like Andlee from Andy and Le'Ann and Bryton from Brylee and Peyton. Also like Bretlyn for a girl version of Bret and the maiden name Hudson for a first name. That kind of thing. I hated to commit to any baby names this time because I have several that I love. Specifically with girls names. Don't be shocked if I end up changing my girls name again if I have a girl 😳

6) When I met Brian I was SWORN off of dating. I was so over dudes and their drama.  He was the last thing that I was expecting or looking for and I fought it but what can I say, when it's fate fighting it doesn't matters. We fell in love hard and fast. He was the first and only guy that I've ever trusted fully (besides my dad of course). He cherished my heart and that showed strongly from day one. It's his most charming quality.

7) My biggest pet peeves are smacking and talking during a movie. Like, seriously it's sooo rude. I have been known to get into arguments at the movie theater because of smacking and talking. I can't tell you how many times I've told strangers that I didn't pay to hear them talk or smack. My kids have even been taught since they could chew that it's a no no. It's that big of a deal to me.

8) If I ever relocated it would be to Alaska or to Florida. We wanted to relocate after we sold the chicken farm but I can't leave my parents and grandparents. Especially after my dads health scare. I want to be close to them.
My moms from Washington so she has family up there and she loves that area so there's the change that she'd move there. Alaska is a short plane or boat ride away. I would love to have a cabin in the woods there with a farm and homestead off of the land. (And with indoor plumbing and electric of course ha.) You can't beat the wildlife and land scape there. Plus don't even get me started on the northern lights. Amazing.
If we didn't end up in Alaska we would end up in Pensacola Beach, Florida. It's our favorite beach to vacation too. The town is tiny and cozy yet still full of life. It's the perfect in between of small town living and being close to a lot of businesses such as Starbucks and Target. I know what you're thinking, my options for some day living couldn't be more different. I'm a mess. I know this.

9) I love to travel. I love seeing new places and being in different climates/landscapes than I am used to. I have so many places that I want to go that it's unreal. From common places like Paris and Australia to less common vacation places like Ireland. Anywhere that's not like what we have around here intrigues me. Brian and I plan to travel a lot more after our kids are grown but at this rate I'm not sure that we will ever be done raising kids ha.

10) I hate my hair. It's frizzy and ringlet curly. It has this red tent that always pulls through no matter what shade I color it. It's so thick that it's smothering and if I thought that short hair ever looked good on girls I'd cut it off.

11) I am a huge tattoo lover. I think that they CAN BE a stunning work of art on a persons body. I'd legit be covered in them if my husband was a fan of ink. We compromise by me having some but not being covered. Right now I have around 10 and several planned for after the baby is born including adding the baby's name to my kids names tattoo. Ideally one day I will have a full sleeve on my 'Harry Potter arm'. I have a large tattoo of Hogwarts on that arm and want to turn it into a full fictional sleeve. Disney, Harry Potter, The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe, ect. That's where I will stop.

12) Brian is 11 years older than me and I thank God for that. I had a brother 13 months younger than me so I grew up seeing first hand how boys my age are so immature. Still as an almost 27 year old all of my friends who are married to guys our age agree that dudes our age aren't typically mature. Brian had already been living on his own and supporting himself for about 10 years when we met. He is old fashioned and he was stable. He went to work in high school and took care of himself financially. Not only is he financially mature but he's also morally mature. He opens the door for me and does things like putting gas in my car. He doesn't like me to carry heavy stuff or clean when he's in the room. He hates to feel like he's not being helpful. He is just a class act and I really think that's because he's so much older. He was raised in a different time and we work hard to bring that 'time' back when raising our kids. The younger generation who are raising kids these days are raising a bunch of spoiled, entitled, brats who don't have authority and it shows.

13) I am an obsessive list maker and planner. I make my grocery shopping list in the order to where things are in the store and place them onto the belt to be bagged according to what catagory they go in inside of my house. Brian makes fun of me because he finds my cheesy random lists everywhere. My way of de stressing is to organize things from my mind onto paper. As for planning, well I plan stuff years in advance sometimes. I write it all down or create Pinterest boards about it. Like I already know that this baby's first birthday party will be a rainbow themed party and I already have a private Pinterest board all about baby #5. We haven't even had baby #4. I was that way with all of my kids. Planning the next while I was still pregnant ha.

14) I love to read. I'm one of those people who tells herself 'just one more chapter' and ends up reading the entire book in one setting. It's bad. I'm a chronic binge reader and my choice in books are almost always fictional/science fiction related. I like to go places that don't exist and engage in characters that aren't humanly possible. I suffer a loss each time that I close the last page of good book so I tend to reread my favorites. I love fantasy so much that I've written my own books for fun. I just enjoy everything about going places when I can't actually go somewhere and living lives that aren't anyone's reality.

15) I cuss like a sailor. I have a dirty mouth and a dirty sense of humor. I recently bought a shirt that says 'I gave up a lot of things when I became a mom but saying f**k wasn't one of them' because it's so me. Although I do my best to avoid cussing in front of my kids so they don't say bad words. I mean, they have cussed before of course but never have said the f word and I can count on one hand how many times they've all 3 cussed total. They know that cuss words are bad words and that mommy is being bad if she says them. I know, I know #momoftheyear

Baby Nursery Plans

I'm not sure why this is a question that I get a lot but it never fails that people want to know what my baby room theme is. I'm assuming that they ask because either a) they know that I'm big into home decor or b) they wonder how I'm preparing for an unknown gender. At the beginning of this pregnancy my plan was to do a neutral nursery like our foster boys room was then add gender specific touches after the baby came.
But I know that I would have ended up converting a neutral room to a gender specific theme anyways so I figured that I might as well just do it from the beginning. I have had these themes on picked for years now. In fact I have Pinterest boards full of these themes that I created shortly after Hudson was born four years ago. Yes, I jumped right into planning baby #4 ha.
I am so excited to see the nursery all together. I've picked out paint colors and sent my mom the links to the beddings that I want so she can put most of the room together while we are still in the birth center/hospital after the baby is born. I'm purchasing wall decor for both sexes soon and I'll just take back the decor that's not the proper gender.

Boy theme: Alaskan Wilderness

Dark grey walls
Wood plank wall behind his crib
Rustic trim
Rustic crib
Red changing table
Moose, deer, bear, and tree themed accents
Buffalo plaid bedding, changing pad cover, and curtain
Buffalo plaid name above his crib (I'll purchase wooden letters that spell Granger and cover them with buffalo plaid fabric)
A antler chandelier
A deer hide tacked on one wall

These pictures are just a blend of what I'm going for:

Girl theme: Floral & Lace

Pale blush walls
White trim
White ship lap wall behind the crib

Pale purple changing table
Floral and lace accents (Shades of purple with some blush)
Huge paper flowers above the crib
Flower letters that spell 'Eilee' or 'Leighton' above the changing table (name will depend on what we decide to call her)
Flower and lace mobile in the corner between the crib and the window
(I'm going to make the flower name and mobile myself)
Lace tent with a flower crown around the top (My mom is making this)
Watercolor floral bedding and changing pad cover
Lace curtains
Chrystal chandelier
