How I Knew That I Was a Witch

Recently i made my first post about being a witch. I have spent a very long time wanting to open up about it. It’s been hard to exclude it from everyone. I debated how I’d “come out of the broom closet” more times than you can imagine. A Facebook post, Instagram post, a video, Snapchat, a book but the blog just seemed the right way to go for this. Blogging is a great outlet to put my mind and heart out there so that’s what i did. It’s a way to deeply and cautiously type out your thoughts. Proof read them. Sit on them in the drafts folder until you’re ready to post it live. Reread it over and over to make sure that you didn’t leave anything out. It’s just a good way to go.

My blog has mainly revolved around motherhood and being a wife but in general, it’s based on my life/who i am as a whole/advice that i want to share ect. Being a witch is a huge part of me just as being a mom, wife, daughter, friend, etc is. I’m excited to share this part of me with you. My goal from this is to open minds about witches and witchcraft. Also to help any people out there questioning themselves or their craft. If you’re resonating with anything that i said in my last blog or my future blogs in this topic, reach out to me. Please. I’m happy to help you.  I know that i will be judged for this by some people. But what are we not judged for ha? Whether it’s being anti vaccines or pro vaccines. Whether it’s breastfeeding until 3 years old or not breastfeeding at all. Whether it’s being a married mom or a single mom. Whether you have no kids or 10 kids. Whether you are a working out of the house mom or stay at home mom. The list is endless. We are all judged. It’s life. It’s inevitable. I’ve learned that over time. You can literally stay at home in your own little world raising your kids and keeping to yourself and people will still talk about you. Even if you don’t give them something to talk about, they’ll make something up. I’m a big girl. I can handle my own just fine 😉

Witchy things will be a new common topic on the blog. I’ll be doing posts to give you a deeper insight to the craft (my craft, i can’t speak for other witches). For today’s topic it is — how I knew that i was a witch!

All of my life stuff happened that was not “normal”. I’d have dreams of very specific things that would end up coming true. I saw things and heard things that others did not. I would wake up from a dead sleep to hot breath on my neck as a mans voice spoke in a language that i did not know. I would have full blown conversations with people that had passed away whether in a dream or in my bed room while i was awake. I was fascinated with all things supernatural and magical. My 3rd grade book report was over witches. My senior research paper was over the Salem witch trials. My mom thought that i was crazy. She actually had me see doctors over it ha. It wasn’t until my brother, our friends, and eventually my mom would see dark figures standing in front of my bedroom door that mom realized that i wasn’t nuts. One time my brother saw a figure coming after me so he screamed at me to get out of the house. He said that he got the feeling that it wanted to harm me. Needless to say, i attracted spirits because i was sensitive to them. I attracted good and bad presences. The bad scared me. I was still running terrified to my parents room when i was 18 years old! After i got married I’d cry to Brian over it. He was a huge skeptic about all things supernatural. He simply did not believe in that “fairytale bullshit”. Ten years with me obviously changed him though. I no longer channel bad spirits. I learned how to guard myself and my home from them. I do pick them up when they are near but i simply refuse to communicate with them or let them near. I would also have premonitions of people dying before they’d die. Sometimes it’d just be the family of the person who died that I’d see. Other times I’d see the actual person. I knew things that i shouldn’t know. I could feel other people’s feelings and call it in great detail. I had major empathy and literally felt what other peoples were feeling without even knowing them or speaking to them. I could pick up on their vibes and aura. I have mastered that skill greatly, to be honest. It’s my biggest gift. I can read someone like a book instantly. I can sense lying, emotions, thoughts, vibes, evil, ect. I have a deep connection with what’s inside of people. All around I’m just extremely in touch to all things spiritual and out of this word. I’ve always felt like there’s more to life than what we see. Being a Christian that’s what most of the faith revolves around. Believing that there’s more out there. Believing in God although we can not see him. Trusting our relationship with him and what he tells us even though he’s not physically there.

These things are what led to me realizing that i was a witch. I couldn’t ever find a label to who i was and why i had all of these things happening in me. They didn’t make sense. I felt like an outsider. I wasn’t open about it because people have a hard time believing what they do not understand. So when a friend started to talk to me about her journey as a witch it hit me like a train, i am a witch. In one massive moment i made sense for once. My life made sense. Who i am made sense. It was one of the most empowering experiences of my life. It was like my spirit had found its place. You can not know what I’m explaining unless you’ve been there. It was simply amazing. I drove head first into growing my craft. I researched things. Tried things. Like my energy draw me to things. I resonated with several different paths. I’m always learning and changing as a witch. I pray constantly in my practice. I use crystals and moon power. I respect the elements, animals, and nature. I meditate. I write spells and set strong intentions. I draw all of my power from God and know that he is who gave me this gifts. He is why magic works and things come true. Despite the deep belief that witchcraft is satanic, it is NOT! At worst it’s a sin to some. There is great room for interpretation as far as the Bible’s word on it goes. Call me something else and I’m doing no wrong by the Christian faith. That’s hypocritical! I do not feel personal conviction for being a witch. I do not feel guilty or wrong. I do not feel like God looks down on me for it. I feel whole. I feel ‘me’. This is who i am. This is what i do. This is how i was born. That’s why i know that I’m where I’m meant to be. That’s how i knew that i was a witch.

I am in a few local groups about this kind of thing and have made so many new witch friends. It’s amazing to be apart of this community. I’ve helped many women come to find themselves as witches just as my friend Calyn helped me. It’s wonderful. That being said, if you have any questions at all please contact me. I’m an open book and will answer anything that i can.

Also if anyone wants to know specific details drop me your questions and I’ll answer them all in a blog post.

Eilee Leighton is ELEVEN MONTHS OLD

Eleven months ago today i gave birth to our sweet rainbow baby. She has been endless joy from the moment that i got a positive pregnancy test. This month was huge for us. Eilee (and our whole family) lost one of our favorite people on the planet — Papa Jerry. He and Eilee had a very close bond. They adored each other and it breaks my heart that they will not get to grow that bond but I’m thankfully for the time that they did share. Little Leighton has grown SO much. She is pushing 32” tall and 19 lbs. She stands well unassisted and is attempting steps daily. She has 8 teeth and talks constantly. She sleeps like a champ and rarely wakes up during the night. She absolutely LOVES to swim. Like, I’ve never seen a baby who is so happy and excited in the — sometimes chilly — water. My arms are legit sore from holding her in the pool. She splashes and squeals. She kicks. She giggles. She loves to get her face wet. She cries when we get out. Eilee is crazy about her siblings. They play more now than ever before. She likes to tackle them and give them opened mouth kisses. She also has a habit of slapping with both hands at the same time. She will slap us then bury her head into us and growl. For some sad reason, E hasn’t sucked her thumb recently. I know most will think ‘why is that sad’ but to me i loved that she did it. It was so precious and kept her my baby in a way. I’m not sure if it’s a phase that she’s not doing it now or if it’s permanent but it’s probably our biggest change development wise this month. She eats food more than she nurses now which also makes me sad. I find myself missing it rather than thankful for the extra freedom. She’s definitely still a fan of milk though and not anywhere near ready to give it up. Everyone who knows her will tell you that she is the literal definition of a titty baby ha. She is all about her mama and my milk. E is known for 3 things: Her obsession with me/breastfeeding, always being smiley, and her loud growl. If you spend any length of time with her you are guaranteed to witness all 3 things in action. She’s a doll. Happy 11 months since birth day, Smiley Eilee ⚾️☀️

UPDATE: Since posting this today she has literally done 3 new things! (I swear that she shows off for Brian. He had just gotten home when she started doing these things.)

She stood up from a squat without pulling up, she took FOUR solid steps, and she said “booby” 😳🤷🏻‍♀️

Homemade Laundry Detergent

My last post on what love is not was long and deep (I am clearly passionate about my love for Brian ha) so i thought that something laid back was needed today. What’s more laid back than laundry talk??? KIDDING! I’m pretty passionate about hating laundry but anything DIY always makes my life more fun so maybe it will help you too.

We all know that quality laundry soap is expensive and when you’re a growing family of 6, you go through ALOT of it. This DIY batch of laundry detergent is not only affordable but it smells absolutely incredible and lasts significantly longer than other soaps. It lasts longer because it makes a large amount of product and you don’t even use half of the standard amount for other soaps each load of laundry. One batch lasts 6ish months. I highly recommend trying it. It’s amazing.

Here is what you’ll need:

1 - container of laundry enhancer (I use Downy Unstopables or Purex Crystals)

1 - box of Arm & Hammer baking soda

1 - box of Arm & Hammer washing soda

2 - pink Zote bars (You have to grate these bars with a cheese grater)

1 - tub of Oxy Clean

1 - box of Borax

1 - large sealable container to mix/store it all in

The Oxy Clean comes with a scooper and that’s what you use to distribute the soap into your washing machine. A little less than half of the scooper is what i use. You can see the line drawn on it in the picture for reference.

Mourning the Loss of My Papa Jerry

It is with a shattered soul that i write this. On May 11th my papa, Jerry Wayne Noblin, passed away. Two days earlier he was put into the hospital with chest pains. A test revealed that his heart wasn’t working well and his kidneys were shutting down. He was scheduled to be transferred to have open heart surgery on May 11th but passed away just as the life flight arrived. My phone rang at 6:22 in the morning that day. It was my dad and i knew before i even answered what had happened. I have never felt or reacted in a way that i did at that moment. I blacked out in a way but i remember screaming. Crying. Throwing up. Shaking. Not being able to stand up. My entire world stopped. Time stood still. That day was the longest day of my life and every day since has gotten harder. I don’t know how to live my life without my papa.
If you know me you know how much my family means to me. You know that I’m always at my grandparents house visiting them. You know that I’m the party planner of the family and I’m always bringing us all together. This is my worst nightmare — losing a loved one. Every day that passes with out him just gets harder. Yesterday marked a week since i had last talked to my papa. He and grandma kept Eilee while i ran to the gym and as i was leaving he said, “Get out of here mama. Go enjoy yourself. We’ve heard a crying baby before!”. I left there and called Brian to laugh with him about that and brag how awesome papa is. (Grandma too of course) Considering him in past tense is a nightmare. I get physically sick when i think about it. The heaviness of his loss is like being ran over by a semi. I will never be the same. We as a family will never be the same. This world will never be the same. There isn’t a person that I’ve ever known who had more special things that made them stand out, than my papa did. His little sayings like “Isn’t it great, isn’t it grand!” and pet names like “little dandy’s/little darlin’s”. His love for super old time county music, cow auctions, and poker games on the computer. The way that he yelled “HUH?” when he couldn’t hear you which was 99.9% of the time. The way that he made a twiddling “do to do to do”ish sound as he slid around dancing and moving his fingers up and down. How he shook hands and gave hugs with all of his might which happened to be A LOT. His squeezes are the best. The way that he runs Eilee’s fingers through his beard and makes noises as she laughs at him. He also tickles her belly with his face. They absolutely adore each other and spent a lot of time together. I see him in her often. The way that he could never pass up on an opportunity to hear the latest gossip. The way that he’d flop down into his chair, pat his lap, and say, “Bring me that baby, mom!” to my grandma every single time that i was over there. The way that he was so fun to sneak up on and scare because he never heard you coming. The way that he ate up his grand babies and lived for his family. How he’d never let you get down or sad because he’d straighten you out by telling you that “it’s okay, that’s life”. He’d always have the tv up so loud that you couldn’t hear yourself think. His ability to be the most frugal man on the planet yet be so giving at the same time. How he was a little flirt and got away with it because he was so hilarious. I could seriously go on and on about the thousands of quirks that papa has. If you know him, you know exactly what i mean. He is hands down one of a kind and the absence of his presence is undeniably tragic. It makes it hard to breath or to want to get out of bed. It’s extremely painful not to have him here the way that we are used to having him here but I know that he’s still here in spirit. Listening to our latest gossip. Judging our financial choices. Laughing at his grand kids. Eating up all of the visitors that we’ve had and enjoying all of the food. I would give just about anything to have more time with him but i am deeply thankful for the time that i did have and for being blessed to have him as my papa.

Guys, LISTEN TO ME! Take pictures with your loved ones. Spend time with them. Enjoy them. Tell them that you love them and hug them ‘bye’ every single time that you part ways. The last thing that i said to my papa was “I love you, we will see you tomorrow.” and I’m so thankful for that. He gave me a strong hug (as always) and told me that he loved me too. Don’t take life for granted. Don’t say to yourself, ‘Oh it’s okay, I’ll get a picture with him next time when i look better.’. I have regrets. Regrets that haunt me and always will. Save those videos of your family. Save those voice mails. I’ve listened to my papa’s messages and watched his videos of him with Eilee a million times. You realize very fast after a loss that you put too much care in stupid shit. Who has what home. Who always feels the need to ‘one up’ you. Who drives what car. Who posts dumb things online. Who is fake. Who says what about who. Who has how many kids. Who, who, who. Other people that don’t matter at all. Don’t be self absorbed. Don't be vain. Don’t focus on the random ‘who’s’ of the world. Focus on the ones that matter. Don’t focus on what you don’t have. Focus on the people that you DO have.

Eilee Leighton is TEN MONTHS OLD

We are in double month digits, y’all. I’m freaking out. My emotions are insane. I don’t know why this is so hard on me but it is. I cringe at the thought of Eilee turning a year old and no longer being an “infant”. I think it’s partly an I’m older thing so i see time differently now but also as a veteran mom i know all to well what’s coming. The fighting and gripping. The preschoolers who think that they know it all. The drama. Don’t get me wrong i love many aspects of my bigs ages but it’s also the mouthiest age yet so I’m at my wits end some time.

Eilee Lou is 18 1/2 lbs and 30 1/2” tall. She has 8 teeth and fully into baby led weaning. She’s picky about textures though. She won’t eat noodles or anything sticky/chunky like that. She nurses every 2-3 hours during the day and none at night. She still sucks her thumb all the time and i still think that it’s adorable. She learns and changes everyday. She’s very vocal. Veryyyyy. She’s always talking and making new sounds. She’s loud about it too. I have no clue where she gets that ha. She says mama, dada, daddy, bubba, papa, baba, dog, ball, and bye. She can sign eat, more, and milk. She waves bye-bye, claps her hand, gives high-fives, snorts, gives hugs/kisses, blows spit bubbles, and dances (she bounces up and down when you ask her to dance). She can pull up and stand briefly unassisted. She’s tried to take steps more times than i can count but she always falls before she makes it to the 2nd step. She loves other babies. I swear they have their own little language because she goes to town chatting when she makes a new baby friend. She is officially a fit thrower. Like, kicking her legs and throwing her head back kind of fits. My mom was lucky enough to witness one in Incredible Pizza this week. I fear for my future already. Eilee is crazy about being outside. When the wind blows in her face she closers her eyes and giggles. It’s cute. She recently decided that she doesn’t like dogs anymore. They lick and she’s not about that life. This month has went by faster than the others. Maybe it’s all of the April birthdays in our family plus Easter and the teacher walk out so i had all of the kids at home for 2 weeks which threw our schedule off. I’m not sure but i do know that I’m officially waist deep in birthday party and family/birthday picture planning. I can’t believe it’s so close 😭
