I get asked this question several times a week. We had 3 children all born within 20 months of eachother so maybe people just expect us to keep going. Maybe people are just nosy because they can't believe that we'd want more kids. Maybe people wish that they could have a bunch of kids so they live through us. Who really knows why it's constantly a question that Brian and I get. Society is so back wards on many, many things but societies views on family size is something that catches my attention daily.
"You don't have any kids? You're missing out. How could someone NOT want children?!"
"You just have one kid? Don't you feel bad that they don't have a sibling to go through life with?"
"You have 2 girls/2 boys? You guys need to try one more time for a (insert opposite gender here)!"
"You have one of each? Good! You can be done having kids now."
"You have 3 kids and are pregnant with another? You know how that happens, right?" (As if having more than 3 kids means that the rest of them HAD to be accidents.
And if you have 4+ kids, well, you are just bat shit crazy ha!
Here's the deal guys, your family size is not anyone else's business!
If you don't want kids because you want to live life exploring and having fun, that's cool. You do you and enjoy every second of it.
If you just have one kid and want to spoil that kid completely rotten, perfect. I bet that kid isn't complaining.
If you have 2 kids and are done because that's all that you can handle or want to handle, I don't blame you. Kids are expensive and time consuming.
And if you're like us and want a house full of mini's running around because you're either just plain crazy or you genuinely love every minute of the chaos, GOOD FOR YOU! As long as you are able to financially, physically, and mentally raise your army, you go for it.
At the end of the day family is everything. It's what makes life so worth living. Seeing my children together is by far my favorite thing about being a mom. They have a love and bond that will never fail them. They have someone who will be there for them when Brian and I are gone. I'll never regret having 3 kids so close in age, in fact in a few years we plan to do it again. I know tthat seems crazy to some but you know what, that's our right! That's what WE feel is best for our family. We will always do us and we expect all of you to do the same because it's our rights to do so. For now our family bounces back and forth between a family of five and a family of 7. We get our bonus kiddos every other weekend and will do so forever we hope.

Now go hug your kids, spouse, or pets, whoever you're doing this thing called life with, and be thankful that you have them.
